MAJOR IN ACCOUNTING
COLLEGE OF BUSINESS
Effective: Fall 2007

Core Curriculum Requirements

Students transferring from Alabama public two-year and four-year colleges and universities should consult the AGSC site for complete details regarding Areas I-IV for all majors, including the list of approved courses for each institution. Specific requirements for students majoring in Accounting at Alabama public two-year schools and for UWA pre-accounting majors are included below.

AREA I -- Written Composition (6 semester hours)

AGSC: No specific courses required for Accounting majors beyond the AGSC requirements.

AREA II -- Humanities and Fine Arts (12 semester hours)

AGSC: There are no specific courses required for Accounting majors beyond the AGSC requirements, but the following course is strongly preferred:

AGSC: Students planning to complete a bachelor's degree in Accounting must take a course in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and the behavioral sciences (psychology, sociology, or anthropology or an integrated course covering some of these topics)
