UWA Lower-Level Degree Requirements for a
MAJOR IN CHEMISTRY TEACHER CERTIFICATION
COLLEGE OF NATURAL SCIENCES AND MATHEMATICS

Core Curriculum Requirements

Students transferring from Alabama public two-year and four-year colleges and universities should consult the AGSC site for complete details regarding Areas I-IV for all majors, including the list of approved courses for each institution. Specific requirements for students majoring in Chemistry Teacher Certification at Alabama public two-year schools and for UWA pre-Chemistry Teacher Certification majors are included below.

Students in a certification program also must complete a professional students component.

AREA I -- Written Composition (6 semester hours)

AGSC: No specific courses required for Chemistry Teacher Certification majors beyond the AGSC requirements.

EH 101 and 102, Written English I and II or
EH 103 and 104, Honors English I and II
ENG 101 and 102, Written Composition I and II

AREA II -- Humanities and Fine Arts (12 semester hours)

AGSC: There are no specific courses required for Chemistry Teacher Certification majors beyond the AGSC requirements, but the following course is strongly preferred:

AREA III -- Natural Sciences and Mathematics (11 semester hours)

AGSC: No specific course required for Chemistry Teacher Certification beyond the AGSC requirements.

UWA: Students planning to complete the bachelor's degree in Chemistry Teacher Certification are required to complete the pattern in natural science and mathematics as listed below:
